The Sanctuary Letter: This letter was given to the plumbers, the roofers, the framers, the excavators, the electircian etc. We wish to share it with those that now come to this Sacred Place so that you too can participate in the spirit of SANCTUARY.
To whom it may concern,
John and I want to tell you a bit about what this place is.
It is not just a home for us, though it is. It is a place for healing and growing. It is a place of confort for those folks who are feeling overwhelmed by life or caught in some difficulty that has become too much for them. This building, which has been constructed, will be a place of transformation, renewal and healing. When we first spoke to Dave P.,( the builder) we asked him if he "loved" what he did. We asked him if it made him happy what he was doing. We asked this because we only want people who loved what they did, to participate in this creation.
John and I wanted to explain this to you because how you approach this place matters in an unusual way. We want you to underdstand that your attitude , when you are working on this "healing place", will become part of this building. Essentially, you are the first of many helpers who will make this place a true "Sanctuary" for those who come here seeking renewal, transformation and healing.
So we would like to ask that you come here, with an attitude of enjoyment in your work. We would like to ask that you go that little extra distance to make this place special. You have in your power to make a difference in the lives of many people, simply by doing this job with care, attention to details and enjoyment. One way to say this is with a story.
There was once a great craftsman, who after many years of building homes with great love and care, had decided to retire. He was asked to build one more house as a favor to his boss. He agreed but he was tired. He didn't put the same care and attention to detail in that last house.
On the day the house was finished, his boss, who had asked him to build the home, handed him the key and said "This is my gift to you for all the work you have done over the years. This is your home." How sad it was that he had not put his "all" into this house that was now his home.
There may come a time, when one of your loved ones or friends may need to come to "Sanctuary" for help or healing or rest. If that ever is the case, we are sure that you would want to know that all your care and attention to detail has truly gone into its creation. Since for al time, it will be a sanctuary for them.
We are sure that you who read this letter and understand what we are creating here, are special people. We appreciate your participation in the creation of "Sanctuary" and all the care and attention to detail, which you will put into this place.
And one day, when the job is finished, and you stand and look at it- you will know that you are someone who has made a difference in the world and in the lives of all those who come to "Sanctuary" for renewal.
We wish to express our appreciation and gratitude for your care, your attention to detail and especially for the attitude of enjoyment that we anticipate you will bring to this project.
Thank you for your participation in creating a place of healing and renewal for many people.
Sincerely,
John & Alaya Chadwick
